Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a condition whereby the red blood cells are destroyed by the immune system. In France, the incidence rate of paediatric forms is estimated to be 0.8 cases per 100,000 children and adolescents aged under 18, which amounts to 20 to 30 new cases per year in France. Another autoimmune disease or underlying primary immune deficiency may appear in the diagnosis or several months or years later.
